Accident at the Eric Hoffer Awards

I was very pleased to learn that Accident by Caroline Maun was a Finalist in the recent Eric Hoffer Book Awards for 2020. Well done Caroline!

New work from Keith Taylor and Isle Royale

We have received a new manuscript from Keith Taylor. In 2019 he was a repeat artist-in-residence on Isle Royale NP in Lake Superior. These works are an expression of his wonder and appreciation of the wilderness and the National Park Service, and his experiences on the island. We expect to publish Let Them Be Left later this year.

Watershed in The FlyFish Journal

Excellent review of Cameron Scott‘s poetry chapbook Watershed by the editor of The FlyFish Journal. Nice work Cameron!

New Work from Holly Wren Spaulding

We have received a first draft of Holly’s new poetry that we first heard and saw in Leelanau, Michigan as part of her artist in residency at the Cultural Center. Everyone in the audience was wowed by her presentation and asking when the poems that were exhibited would be available in book form (Holly had brought letterpress broadsides to display on the walls and sell at the event). We were very excited to be offered this manuscript, and now that we have her text, we are getting to work.

Cover of Cold-running Current

As often happens, the last details to finalize were in the cover, but we are happy now and the book has been uploaded to the printer and copies should be here before the end of the year!

The cover users another print from Michigan artist Helen Gotlib.

Trailer for Watershed

Cameron Scott has very kindly shared this trailer for Watershed; watch him fishing and hear him reading his poem “Evening Hatch”.

Fish – Fall 2019

If I’d been paying closer attention in late August, I would have realized that it was going to be all about fish for the foreseeable future. But, I’d just finished Accident and was nearly done with Watershed and now had my mind on a few other things, like enjoying the last of warm weather with a trip to western and northern Michigan. My best and unexpected discovery was a boardwalk marsh trail in Arcadia, newly opened in spring 2019. I passed its small sign just before Read More »

Watershed back from the Printer

Detail of Helen Gotlib c work used in WatershedWe did a quick tour of Western Michigan at peak color. There was even a brief chat about steelheads with a fisherman along the Manistee River. On the way home, we were able to pick up the boxes of Watershed fresh from the printer. We are thrilled with the finished book and are very appreciative of all involved. Now we begin the work of releasing it into the world!

We’d love to share Watershed with you!
