Author Cameron Scott

If you don’t find him on a river, you’ll find Cameron Scott teaching in a classroom or dreaming of a new place to fish. In 2016 he was awarded The Blue Light Book Award for his second book of poetry, The Book of Cold Mountain. Born in Colorado, he has knocked around the dusty and not so dusty west, holds an MFA in poetry from University of Arizona and worked for a number of years as a summer camp director in Minnesota before spending the past thirteen as a fly-fishing guide in Colorado, mainly at Taylor Creek Fly Shop in Basalt. In the winters he works for Fishtrap, a literary arts nonprofit in Wallowa County, Oregon, where he currently serves as the Youth Programs Manager. His lyrical essays and poems have appeared in magazines, journals and periodicals like Adventure Northwest, Basalt, Cloudbank, Flyfishing and Tying Journal, High Country News, Rhino, Silk Road, The Drake, The Flyfish Journal, and The Ski Journal and he has written numerous outdoor columns for local newspapers where he’s lived. Scott has received residencies from Colorado Art Ranch, Chiloquin Visions in Progress, Playa, Pentaculum and Fishtrap. If you have leftovers, he will eat them.

Cameron Scott is a new author for Alice Greene & Co. His first poetry chapbook with the press, Watershed, was published fall 2019.
